Back to frequent entries once again, my Japanese class has stopped for the year until September, so i have more spare time now (though in september i'm picking up Mandarin Chinese too! I'm a sadist, obviously )
I'll be making my entries more... animated too, simply because dull reading is dull.

New Tri-Ace RPG for PS3/360 in development, the reveal will be sometime next week, check the launch page.

New PSP games include; Evangelion (PSP/PS2) - Seems to be based off the new movies, Queen Blades Spiral Chaos - An SRPG from Namco Bandai, and as-yet-to-be-confirmed, Tales of Versus - This trademark popped up long ago, and recently the Namco bandai site updated, as pictured

Since then, the particular update was edited, removing all mention of a Tales of Versus, but i have a feeling it's real. Check the site in question for any updates, here.

Coming next week in Famitsu is the latest Final Fantasy XIII/ Advent Children Complete info blowout, so expect some stuff then, if not before!

Japanese developer GUST (Atelier seies, Mana Khemia) has revealed their intentions to bring games to the PS3, currently in the form of JRPG Atelier Rorona. Revealed in this weeks Dengeki issue, details are still thin, but the next issue promises to reveal all.

New Final Fantasy XIII shots

Famitsu have released a new batch of direct feed shots for Final Fantasy XIII which was previously featured in the magazine. If you look closely you can notice a number of changes in these shots from the recent trailer we saw (which revealed Nora and the battle system for the first time) The lighting has vastly improved, the detail is greater, and previous complaints such as squared off fingers/guns have all but disappeared, so it seems these shots are from a later build of the game than that of the trailer.

These are the four (of five) Nora members, rescuing Vanille and the other captives

Nora members, again

Gadot, of Nora. His element is fire, which despite opposing Snow's Ice element, he's just as hot-headed personality wise

Lebreau, of Nora. She's the motherly figure within the group, which contrasts her butterfly and beach scenery inspired skant clothing

Maqui, of Nora. The youngest of the group, he's pretty self conscious of his slim body, and so wears many layers. He respects Snow greatly, who saved him from his Otaku-like shut in lifestyle - and so his clothing design takes many elements from Snow's own clothing.

Vanille - this particular scene shown in the trailer now appears to have many visual improvements, in particular her fingers are much more defined (and face shape too!)

Another remake for the PSP? Silent Hill 1 rumored

A rumor surfaced yesterday about a remake of the revolutionary horror PSX title 'Silent Hill' for the PSP/Wii - given Konami's history with each of these platforms, we can assume PSP would be the lead platform. The rumor states that developer CLIMAX is working on this one, and given that these are the guys that worked on the PSP Silent Hill:Origins - the rumor has some weight to it.

VG247 understands that UK developer Climax is working on a PSP/Wii remake of an[sic] the first Silent Hill.

Konami has declined to comment on the talk.

Few specifics are known as yet, but apparently motion control’s been included for torch functions.

The first Silent Hill, designed by Keiichiro Toyama, was released for PlayStation in 1999.

Climax is working on two Konami games, as shown on the firm’s website. The remake is the Wii and PSP project you can see there.

A 360 and PS3 game is also in the works for Konami, but this is an “original ground breaking next-gen game,” according to a Climax job posting.

Climax was unavailable for comment at the time of writing. You didn’t see us here, right?

Following the Persona 1 remake for the PSP, i'd be very happy to see a Silent Hill 1 remake.
Sony have also teased a flock of as-yet unrevealed AAA PSP titles for the second half of this year, following the chain of announcements earlier this week for big PSP titles (LittleBigPlanet etc) Sony promise more announcements in the coming months and at E3.
I'm very happy Sony is finally supporting the PSP, Japan has taken to the PSP since it's hardware revision (and we're seeing the fruits of this in the next couple of years) so it's good to see the west finally following in those footsteps.

PSP finally gets western support!

After a good couple of years of almost no blockbuster western developed games released for the PSP (aside from a couple of notable exceptions) Sony has finally brought attention back to the PSP - whether it's a result of booming Japanese interest (both sales and development wise) or not is anyones guess, but i think it is.

LittleBigPlanet PSP is confirmed for release
Motorstorm Artic Edge is confirmed for release
Assassins Creed PSP is confirmed for release
Rockband PSP is confirmed for release

Couple these PSP versions of major Playstation titles with the brand new Japanese developed IPs (such as Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Ushiro) and you can see that the PSP line up is stronger than it's been for a long time!

Persona goes to PSP!

Today Famitsu revealed that cult JRPG series Persona (spin off of the famed Shin Megami Tensei series) is heading to the PSP!
This enhanced port of the original PSX game comes with a handful of differences that make this releases too hard to resist, some of the differences include;

-Completely revamped UI (probably to be in style with later Persona games)
-Brand new animated cutscenes (of which previously there were none)
- Directed by Shoji Meguro (Persona 3/4)
- 3 different difficulty levels/ extra story content

The game is set to release on April the 29th in Japan, currently there is no western release, but i have faith in Atlus!

Final Fantasy VII 12th Anniversary trailer

V-Jump magazine writes that Square Enix intend to release a 'Final Fantasy VII related' trailer tomororw to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the games release in Japan.
What the trailer is, i have no idea, but i'm sure it'll be full of nostalgia for fans of the game, so look out for it!

Information this morning from Famitsu/Famitsu 360, as follows;

-Atlus are developing a game on the 360 (and PS3 - though the article was taken from Famitsu360 so PS3 was omitted)
- (Capcom) Sequels to Dead Rising and Lost Planet are in the works, both will be multiplatform
- Microsoft dodge the question of a Slim 360 being released, but it seems something is in the works
- Namco Bandai plan to continue whoring themselves and will release 5-6 big titles on the 360 this year (most of which we know) They also mention a new IP
- Bethesda will hijack another firms IP (again) and will release it as a big multiplatform title this year
- From Software are reluctant to develop another exclusive game for the 360, they will wait and see how Ninja Blade performs first
- Koei planning a new IP (does anyone care?)
- Sega are planning a big multiplatform title which will make 360 owners happy

Bizarre new Final Fantasy 13(?) Countdown

An official European based Final Fantasy 13 (notice the use of number and not roman numeral?) has launched today. Bearing nothing but a countdown and the message 'The countdown has begun. A new vision will soon be revealed to the world. Register now to ensure you're there for the unveiling' - Normally we'd assume it's simply a European site launch, but why have a countdown? And why would a European site launch so early prior to even the Japanese launch?

Final Fantasy XIII New Character ! + Other news from Japan

-Final Fantasy XIII-

-He's Sazh Katzroy
-He's a middle aged man, he's known Lightning for a long time, since her days in the army
-He's got a yellow emblem on his shoulder which suggests he has status within Cocoon
-He dual wields pistols
-He's got a 'gentle giant' persona, his sensetive nature can often bring him to tears
-He has very good judgement, and so has a sense of social responsibility within the group
-He's the 'daddy' to the chocobo chick, who he affectionately talks to and has rest inside his hair
-His affectionate 'hands on' personality can irritate Lightning

ingame cutscenes + the first ever battle shot with more than one character in battle. Isn't the chocobo so cute :P

White Knight Chronicles hits 300,000 copies sold in Japan. After a slow week all around, WKC dropped down to 9th in the charts - still, it's been in the top ten longer than any other console JRPG this generation!
Dissidia:Final Fantasy hits 800,000 copies sold! Another week at number one, the game sold 44,000 copies.

Final Fantasy XIII Fabula Nova Crystallis Official site launch

Square Enix has launched the official website for the Fabula Nova Crystallis games. Currently, only the XIII section has media, it features new screenshots, artwork, and two amazing tracks from the game. Latest Final Fantasy XIII Scans, ingame battles!

V-Jump has released some further information on the battle system for Final Fantasy XIII, it appears to mix both the seamlessness of FFXII, and the good old command/turn based FF style (albeit with a new attack chain based system)
Furthermore, V-Jump reveals the correct translation of 'pigtails girl' is actually 'Oerba Dia Vanille' - sounds french or something!
There's also a mixture of CG and ingame cutscenes there too.

While i'm here, i just want to make a correction from my last entry (it won't let me edit it for some reason)
There was actually THREE new characters revealed in the end, there was an extended version of the closed theatre trailer that revealed him, he's a buff guy clad in green clothes, with an orange afro! Sounds... unique.
A Japanese person lucky enough to see the trailer has also sketched what they remember of the second newly revealed character (the asian girl) Here's the sketch:

New Final Fantasy XIII Information!

It's taken from impressions of today's closed theatre trailer at Jump Festa.
A lot of it i gather myself so apologies for any small errors. (originally is Japanese)

Please don't moan about not seeing the trailer! This is all we have for now.

Final Fantasy XIII [PS3]
- A new character is revealed. He appears to have a 'shouta' persona (young boy )
- The new male character has a unique speaking accent
- he has blonde hair, and wears goggles. Tidus comes to mind (same attitude)
- There is a new female character revealed. She has a distinct asian look to her. (Bob hair cut? Something like FFX-2)
- Her relationship is described as though she is an older sister to Lightning
- The trailer shows Lightning and Cocoon residents being detained in a prison. Lightning clad in a straight jacket and all xD Snow Villiers plans to release her, and succeeds (guess how )
- Lightning makes a point of saying Vanilla has already been affected by the Fal'cie
- Battles appear to be seamless
- Battle gameplay is shown playing for the first time. Lightning and Snow Villiers are defending Vanilla.
- Snow Villiers uses hand to hand combat in battle
- Shiva is summoned during battle. She freezes the enemies, then runs them over in her motorcycle form
- The battle system is described as being extremely smooth, and fast.
- Battle system does look all flashy like Advent Children
- Battle system is the faster than any FF before it.
- Trailer has full voice acting
- The organization which Lightning and Co are fighting against is called 'Noah' (or something similar)
- People in the theatre were overwhelmed + applaused at the end

The battle is as flashy as it has been previously mentioned in small amounts in interviews etc.
The quickness and motion in the battle is the most furious and heated FF has ever seen. They were thinking along the lines of FF7AC style it seems.

Shows a bit of the command, jumping is in the game as said previously but the writer of the blog says he was unable to tell how it happened.

In the Cocoon there is a warning voice being projected. It was hard to hear what was being said over the noise of the music etc.

Event scene:

Snow and Lightning help someone being taken away by a solider? Snow takes a Bazooka like weapon from a downed Soldier and delivers a counter attack.

By the way, Snow gives a machine gun to someone, the suspect being taken by the soldiers? She introduces herself as Vanilla.

Another battle, snow summons shiva and freezes stuff then completely destroys them all.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII [PS3]
- Appears to simply be an extension of the ingame conversation between Noctis and Stella
- Talk of 'the light' again, discussing when they first saw it (different time and it's connection to death, and giving of power.
- They muse about the idea of it being simply fairytale/myth
- Stella invites Noctis to where she is from (Tenebare, or whatever it was called )

As shown in the very first trailer, it appears as though the battle system has stayed largely similar to the original concept, you stock commands together from the menu, and string them into one long chain of attacks, then execute them as like a combo (and looks very flashy)

For the first time publicly the most recent TGS 08 trailer for Final Fantasy VII : Advent Children Complete is released. The new edition of Advent Children features a healthy chunk of new footage, and comes bundled with a second Blu Ray disc, featuring a long PS3 Exclusive demo of Final Fantasy XIII and trailers of various Fabula Nova Crystallis titles. Advent Children Complete goes on sale in March (09) in Japan, and i will let you know when pre-orders are available.
