'Vision', a recent Level 5 event which took place in Japan revealed several new handheld projects from the company, along with a Level 5 virtual console named 'Roid'
Of particular interest were two new RPG games, 'Ushiro' and 'Cardboard Senki' which are both set to release for the PSP in 2009. Some small details and images were soon afterwards released to give an insight into these two interesting new games.

Ushiro

Ushiro as a Horror RPG, which sees the protagonist 'Shinigami' or Death God, grant wishes to those whose lives are about to end, in return for their souls.

The character artwork here shows the 'Shinigami'

The game allows players to cling to a person, in order to listen in to conversations they may be having, doing this also allows the player to possess the person, and read their mind.

The female character shown in both character art and in-game images appears to play a vital role in the story

Once our protagonist 'Shinigami' has discovered the wish of those he chooses, he is able to confront them and offer to grant their final wish at the cost of their lives.

It appears as though the game uses these animated sequences for important scenes in the game.

Being so close to the spirit world, our god of death will have to fight malevolent entities that are formed from the negative thoughts of peoples minds

Cardboad Senki

Taking a much lighter tone, Cardboard Senki, sees players create small 'Gundam' style robots to battle each other in cardboard battlefields.

The story takes place in the year 2050, where people use pandemic small combat robots LBX (Little Battler eXperience) to battle.

Our protagonist is 13 year old Van Yamano, who loves to battle with plamo mecha and is very excitable.

Players are able to purchase new mecha parts, such as limbs, torso, weapons, and batteries in order to strengthen and customize their LBX

Both of these games are Level 5 'Anniversary titles', an importance which suggests they will see release outside of Japan. Cardboard Senki has also been announced as one of the launch titles available to download via Roid.
I will update the blog when more information from these promising games is released.
