  • Valkyria Chronicles Europe demo for the 9th of October!

    http://kotaku.com/5056854/valkyria-chronicles-demo-storms-europe-next-week
Kotaku claims that Sega are set to release a PSN Europe demo of the acclaimed PS3 SRPG Valkyria Chronicles on the 9th of October, this comes after news of a Qore release of the demo for NA. I will update when further information is available.

UPDATE: This information is now CONFIRMED.

    Demo Available October 9th

LONDON (30th September, 2008) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. proudly announces that the website for Valkyria Chronicles™ is now live. A special gameplay trailer for the title will debut there today.

SEGA is also pleased to announce that a demo for Valkyria Chronicles, featuring 2 playable levels, will be live on PlayStation® Network from October 9th. Players will be able to experience for themselves a taste of the incredible CANVAS graphical engine and the exciting action strategy that Valkyria Chronicles offers before the game launches on the 14th of November.

Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe on the verge of a great war. The game follows Welkin, a heroic commander who leads his small platoon against a merciless invading army. As Welkin’s small country of Gallia is engulfed in battle, the emergence of the “Valkyria”, an ancient race with special powers thought to exist only in legends, turns the tide of the war. Faced with a new threat, Welkin and his troops gather their courage to fight for their freedom.

  • Level 5 Brings RPG love to the PSP - A glimpse.

'Vision', a recent Level 5 event which took place in Japan revealed several new handheld projects from the company, along with a Level 5 virtual console named 'Roid'
Of particular interest were two new RPG games, 'Ushiro' and 'Cardboard Senki' which are both set to release for the PSP in 2009. Some small details and images were soon afterwards released to give an insight into these two interesting new games.

    Ushiro

Ushiro as a Horror RPG, which sees the protagonist 'Shinigami' or Death God, grant wishes to those whose lives are about to end, in return for their souls.

The character artwork here shows the 'Shinigami'

The game allows players to cling to a person, in order to listen in to conversations they may be having, doing this also allows the player to possess the person, and read their mind.

The female character shown in both character art and in-game images appears to play a vital role in the story

Once our protagonist 'Shinigami' has discovered the wish of those he chooses, he is able to confront them and offer to grant their final wish at the cost of their lives.

It appears as though the game uses these animated sequences for important scenes in the game.

Being so close to the spirit world, our god of death will have to fight malevolent entities that are formed from the negative thoughts of peoples minds

    Cardboad Senki

Taking a much lighter tone, Cardboard Senki, sees players create small 'Gundam' style robots to battle each other in cardboard battlefields.

The story takes place in the year 2050, where people use pandemic small combat robots LBX (Little Battler eXperience) to battle.

Our protagonist is 13 year old Van Yamano, who loves to battle with plamo mecha and is very excitable.

Players are able to purchase new mecha parts, such as limbs, torso, weapons, and batteries in order to strengthen and customize their LBX

Both of these games are Level 5 'Anniversary titles', an importance which suggests they will see release outside of Japan. Cardboard Senki has also been announced as one of the launch titles available to download via Roid.
I will update the blog when more information from these promising games is released.

  • Persona 2: Innocent Sin English Patch delayed?

    http://tsumi.wordpress.com/2008/09/08/pankekku-eat/
Recently dated for a 15th of October release, Gemini and the translation team may have delayed the release already. No further release date has been announced.
The translation blog comment section was closed, with the message
'Comments closed. You guys just can’t discuss. Shame on you. -_- Oh, and expect to see the release delayed by A LOT. I’m seriously pissed off by your fucking immature behavior.'

Hopefully they change their minds so we can get playing Innocent Sin for the first time in english!
